Top ten Fall/Halloween movies to watch this season!

There’s no better way to get into the seasonal mood than cuddling up on the couch and watching your favorite fall and halloween themed movies. From the classics,to movies that have come out recently, this list has got it all. Grab some popcorn—or candy corn—and get ready to add these 10 movies to your watch list!

1. “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” (1966)

This classic has been one of my favorite Halloween movies since I was young. Follow the Peanuts characters as they pick a pumpkin, go trick or treating and fly in WWII dogfights. At a whopping 25 minutes-long, this movie is an easy and fun watch for the whole family. You can watch it on Apple TV.

2. “The Twilight Saga” (2008)

Love it or hate it, “The Twilight Saga” encapsulates everything fall. It’s cheesy—I know—but there’s something comforting about the 2000s fashion, blue filter and Washington rain in this series that makes it hard to resist. For the full experience, binge-watch the saga on a rainy day. You can watch all five movies for free with Prime.

3. “Coco” (2017)

I was “un poco loco” for this animated film when it was released in 2017. The vibrant visuals and the story of Miguel and his family are simply amazing. Miguel is an aspiring musician who goes against his family’s wishes to follow his dreams. Unfortunately, he gets cursed in the process and the only way back home is to receive a blessing from someone in his family. This movie is a great way to celebrate Día de los Muertos and Hispanic Heritage Month as well. “Coco” is available for streaming on Disney+.

4. “The Village” (2004)

If you’re looking for a thriller, “The Village” might be the right movie for you. Directed by M. Night Shyamalan, this film follows an isolated community who fear the creatures of the night. Get ready to have your mind blown by the end of this movie. “The Village” didn’t receive the best ratings, but it’s still an easier thriller to watch. It’s available for streaming on Hulu.

5. “Coraline” (2009)

This stop motion animated movie has an eerie aura and has never fully sat right with me. Coraline and her family move into a new home, “The Pink Palace.” As she explores her new territory, she encounters her new neighbors, meets a new friend and a witty black cat and discovers a secret door that leads to an alternate reality. But not everything is as it seems, and an evil lingers around the palace. “Coraline” received great reviews and is available for streaming on Max, Hulu and Prime.

6. “Edward Scissorhands” (1990)

Any Tim Burton movie gets me in the mood for Halloween, but an easily forgotten one is “Edward Scissorhands.” Starring Johnny Depp, it tells the story of a scientist who creates Edward, an artificial man with scissors for hands. Many mistake Edward’s rough looks as frightening, making him an outcast. Follow along as Edward attempts to live a normal suburban life. You can stream this movie on Max and Hulu.

7. “Harry Potter” (2001)

Magic, mystery and gloomy weather make this series a great watch during the fall. Through eight movies, Harry and his crew are always getting into trouble at Hogwarts. Follow along as they get complete quests and unravel Harry’s past. Put on comfy clothes and grab some snacks because these movies are long. You can watch them on Peacock and Max.

8. “Monster House” (2006)

One of the most traumatizing movies I watched as a kid was “Monster House.” Set in a suburban neighborhood, three teenagers discover that their neighbor’s house is really a living, breathing, scary monster. With Halloween right around the corner, they find a way inside the house to tame the creature. Now that I’m older, this movie is more funny than scary. “Monster House” is available on Hulu.

9. “It” (2017)

You might want to leave the lights on for this movie. “It” follows the story of a shape-shifting monster that kidnaps children in the nearby neighborhood. When Georgie gets taken by “It,” his older brother and his posse search for him in an abandoned house. Be warned: there are several jump scares and foul words throughout the movie. Watch now on Max.

10. “A Quiet Place” (2018)

You might know John Krasinski from his role as Jim in “The Office.” However, in “A Quiet Place,” Krasinski takes on a whole new role as a father, Lee, in a post-apocalyptic world where humans aren’t alone on Earth. Lee and his family must live in silence to avoid mysterious creatures that hunt by sound. This thrilling movie will have you on the edge of your seat the entire time. You can stream now on Paramount+

It’s hard to fit all your favorite spooky movies in one list. There were so many options to choose from, but these 10 movies are my all-time favorites.
