Have we always had these many experts on gun control and the 2nd amendment?

The 2nd amendment continues to be a hot topic in our nation. As the debate lingers we are seeing more and more experts come out into the light to give us firm and factual information about what it is exactly we need to know about gun control and our 2nd amendment rights.

Here are six experts and what they have to say:

1. New York Times Columnist Bret Stephens

Earlier this month Stephens wrote an Op-ed about why we should repeal the 2nd amendment.

“From a law-and-order standpoint, more guns means more murder,” Stephens said.

“States with higher rates of gun ownership had disproportionately large numbers of deaths from firearm-related homicides,” noted one exhaustive 2013 study in the American Journal of Public Health.”

Expert Stephens makes a powerful statement. Most Americans would never know this about guns. He gives us statistics on a state level, but wouldn’t it more effective if we knew the stats on a national level? More specifically, a nation to nation comparison.

Internationally it is actually believed by the Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy that more guns equals less crime. There is even a negative correlation between gun ownership and violent crimes in countries.

“Nations with strict gun control laws have substantially higher murder rates than those who do not in general. In fact, the 9 European nations with the lowest gun ownership rate have a combined murder rate 3x that of the 9 European nations with the highest gun ownership rate!” the study said.

2. Bill Maher

Maher was invited to HBO’s Real Time where he asserted that the 2nd amendment was created for the purpose of controlling slaves.

Expert Maher was garnishing his knowledge from a historian named Garry Wills, who he quoted from a Dailykos.com article.

“The Second Amendment …was not meant to let individuals prevent federal “tyranny”—how could it? By training our rifles or handguns on the Army, Navy and Air Force? It was meant to guarantee the legality of a “well-regulated [that is, state-controlled] Militia to handle the states’ internal problems, especially the problems of a large slave population,” said Wills

Maher goes on to say that he knows it drives Republicans crazy that liberals make claims about everything being connected to race.

” But I feel like guns is the one area where, if you can’t see a giant difference between the way black and white are treated in America with guns, I think there’s a little racism in you,” Maher said.

This makes it very clear, according to expert Bill Maher, that the Constitution, more so the 2nd amendment, is inherently fueled with racist intent. Good to know.

3. Many Democrats, Liberals, & Lefties

On a constant basis after every mass shooting those on the left will spew “facts” about gun control and try to give their expertise on the matter. These “facts” are actually myths, which The Federalist wrote an article on.These myths include the “Gun Show Loophole” that allegedly allows anyone to get a gun without a background check, or the idea that nobody is shouting for a mass gun confiscation, or even that buying a gun is as easy as buying a car or groceries.

The facts are that any guns bought from a federal firearms licensee must verify that you are legally allowed to own a gun. This is regardless of location, whether it is a gun store or a gun show. After every shooting there is always someone advocating for a mass confiscation of guns. Basically anyone who mentions Australia’s nationwide gun confiscation law thoroughly implies the U.S. should do the same. Also, the last time I checked your local Stater Bros. doesn’t ask for a background check when you try to by some fruit.
