Hilary Clinton, former first lady and U.S. Secretary of State, is a leading candidate for the Democratic Party. Carly Fiorina, the former CEO of Hewlett-Packard, is stepping up her game, especially in the GOP debates, and is seen as a serious Republican Party contender. This is Clinton’s second time running for president, but will she make it all the way this time? And will she face Fiorina?

As a supporter of feminism and strong women, I hope to see these candidates battle it out politically speaking.

Clinton’s campaign website says, “Hillary Clinton has served as Secretary of State, Senator from New York, First Lady of the United States, First Lady of Arkansas, a practicing lawyer and law professor, activist, and volunteer. Her youth minister took Hillary to see Martin Luther King, Jr. speak in Chicago and helped her develop a lifelong passion for social justice.”

In Fiorina’s recent visit to “Good Morning America,” she said, “Somehow we’ve come to this place in our nation’s history where we think we need a professional political class.”

“I don’t believe that, and I will tell you, as I’ve been out there across the country, people don’t believe that either,” Fiorina continued. “They’re kinda tired of the political class, and they believe we need to return to a citizen government.”

Fiorina’s campaign website, says “Since leaving [her CEO position at] HP, Carly has focused on giving back. She has served in a large number of advisory and policy-making positions for national and state governments. She has also led a number of charities and nonprofits, serving as the chairman of the American Conservative Union Foundation, which annually hosts the CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference); the chairman of the world’s largest product philanthropy organization; and the chair of a Christian faith-based organization that helps lift millions out of poverty worldwide.”

Clinton has a lot of political experience and Fiorina has a lot of business and economic-oriented experience. These two women are so different, and I think they bring a lot to the table. They are definitely both powerful and very well-educated women.

Clinton attended Wellesley College for her undergraduate education and then went on to Yale Law School where she was one of the 27 women in her graduating class.

According to Encyclopedia.com, Fiorina attended Stanford University for her undergraduate education and received two masters’ degrees; one from the University of Maryland and one from MIT.

“Given the choice between Fiorina and Clinton, I am not sure exactly who I would vote for,” junior psychology major Elisha Fields said. “It is still too early in the election process to know if they will actually be the final two candidates. I want to see more from Fiorina, to know if she has the skills to be president. Clinton has a lot of impressive political experience. Both are really powerful women.”

I personally like both candidates. I loved seeing Clinton on “Saturday Night Live” this past weekend. It showed her humorous side and made her seem more approachable and relatable. Clinton also has a lot of political experience up her sleeve. However, she has made some big mistakes in her political career that make me question her leadership abilities and morality, as seen in her email scandals. Fiorina has also made some big mistakes, shown in her massive layoffs during her career as a CEO.

Nobody’s perfect. I am interested in learning more about Fiorina to see if she has the qualities to make her a good leader for this great country. #teamfiorina
