OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Most protein bars found in stores aren’t as healthy as the label advertises them to be. When looking at the nutrition facts, the grams of carbs and sugar from carbs are through the roof, and that is something to beware of.  After paying closer attention to labels and thinking about what I was consuming, I put down the Clif bar and picked up the Quest bar.

The Quest bar is all the rage in the health and fitness community because it boasts a low sugar to carb ratio.  When it boils down to it, sugar is what makes us fat, and our bodies can only handle about 12 grams of sugar a day before turning into fat.  With that said, it’s important to be sugar-consious.

How can something be so low in sugar and still taste good? Quest bars are made with erythritol, a sugar alcohol that is virtually non-caloric andunnamed-3 (1) is far sweeter than table sugar, so not much is needed in a single bar.

cncbarQuest bars come in 17 flavors ranging from fruity to chocolatey.  While my roommate loves white chocolate raspberry and strawberry cheesecake, my favorites are s’mores and double chocolate chunk.

I typically microwave the bar for about 20 seconds so the bar softens and the chocolate melts.  Quest Nutrition’s youtube channel has 15-second healthy recipes that you can easily make with the bars.  Check it out at https://www.youtube.com/user/QuestBars/videos.

For first time buyers, I recommend purchasing the 12 flavor sample pack.  That way, you can discover your favorites for yourself.  After that, you can customize your box of 12 with the ones you can’t live without.  Believe me, once you try Quest, there is no going back!
