Going home for a week was nice, but it presents a problem for those who are not from the San Gabriel area or are out-of-state. For those who live locally, commute, don’t work or work on campus, it’s not a huge deal because they have a chance to go home. Unfortunately, some of us don’t have the luxury of going home often.

I am from a city that is about an hour and a half away from here, but because I work at a retail store in Glendora, I can’t go home for the weekend, making it hard to spend time with my family for Easter. I am sure there are a few students who can identify with this predicament.

Although we already had our spring break, Azusa Pacific is giving us Good Friday off, which might mean something to some students. I get to go home Wednesday night, but because I work out here, I have to be back into work on Saturday morning.

Because our spring break was so early, it technically fell during winter. Many students probably couldn’t spend time with friends whose spring breaks were a little later, and also won’t be able to spend Easter with family.

Making the break earlier did help; who wants to come back to school straight into finals? But as a non-local, I would still choose having spring break during the week of Easter. That way, I would have enough time to request a complete Sunday through Saturday week off work to spend time with my family, and other out-of-area students will actually be able to spend Easter with their families.
