Azusa Pacific women’s basketball dropped its second conference game to Point Loma 82-61 Saturday to conclude its regular-season home schedule.

The Sea Lions pulled away from the Cougars with a 19-0 run midway through the first half, entering halftime with a double-digit lead, which they maintained the remainder of the game.

Point Loma outshot Azusa Pacific 58 percent to 42 percent, coming away with 26 points off turnovers. The Sea Lions went 9-for-15 from three-point range, led by senior guard Callie Rhoads, who registered six of the nine shots from beyond the arc.

Junior forward Sendy Valles and junior guard Allison Greene led the Cougars with 11 points each. Freshman center Maggie Dumphy collected 10 points and four rebounds on the afternoon.

With Saturday’s loss, Azusa Pacific falls three games behind Academy of Art, fastening the Urban Knights’ PacWest conference championship title.

The Cougars will travel to Academy of Art Thursday before wrapping up their conference schedule in Oakland against Holy Names.

Azusa Pacific will enter its final game 14-4 in conference and 16-8 overall, maintaining its second-place position in conference. The players, who are in their final year of the NCAA Division II membership process, will compete in the National Christian College Athletics Association West Region tournament upon conclusion of their regular season campaign.
