The princess of Wales has had an ongoing battle with cancer and recently came out with a statement about her current state of health.

Back in March, Princess Kate of Wales announced she had been diagnosed with cancer. Following her planned abdominal surgery from this past January which revealed the cancer, she will be doing a chemotherapy regimen to ensure a full recovery.

Now this seems like a relevant topic for any readers in England, but for those in America, it may seem irrelevant. However, as Americans, we learn about historical events happening in all different parts of the country. We do not have a royal family or princess and princes, so this season of events has given us a different reality of the fairytale life.

Earlier this year, Prince William resumed public duties while Kate was at home healing and recuperating. In the past, the royal couple would attend the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) together. However in 2024, William attended the event without his wife by his side.

While William started to resume activities, Kate’s health was still on his mind. William had to miss an event due to a “family matter.” Kate remained in the Palace recovering and the public took it into their own hands to make assumptions and interpretations about what was going on behind the scenes.

There was a wildfire of rumors going around that the princess did in fact die and that there is a clone of her walking around. This only created the snowball effect of sharing false information and theories on where the Princess could be.

The palace released a photo for mothers day of Kate and her 3 children. This photo was pointed out to be edited and altered. (Kate later made a statement about it, taking accountability and apologized for it being edited.)

In late March, the staff at the hospital where Kate had her abdominal surgery was investigated for being suspected for attempting to look at her medical records. The CEO, Al Russell, at the hospital made a statement on the situation

“We have systems in place to monitor management of patient information and, in the case of any breach, all appropriate investigatory, regulatory and disciplinary steps will be taken. There is no place at our hospital for those who intentionally breach the trust of any of our patients or colleagues.”

On March 22, 2024 Kate made the official announcement that from her successful abdominal surgery, they discovered she had cancer. Over the next few months her appearances were few and far between, but William still was still stepping up to his duties. Then in June, Kate announced there was progress and that her journey has included good days and bad days.

Soon after her diagnosis and her progress was released to the public, she made an appearance at the Military parade to honor King Charles’ birthday. She arrived with her husband and her three children: George, Charlotte and Louis.

Showing that her diagnosis was improving, Kate made more appearances. On July 15, she and her daughter Charlotte went to watch the Wimbledown Men’s final. Here she was presented the trophy by Spain player Carlos Alaraz in his victory against Novak Djokovic and received a standing ovation by the crowd.

Now fast forward to September 9, 2024 where Kate made a video stating she had finished her chemotherapy regimen. In the video, she said she is cancer free and is slowly returning to her duties as Princess of Wales.

Pricess Kate is not the only royal in the family to be battling an unspecified cancer diagnosis. King Charles announced in February 2024 that he was battling cancer. (This was discovered after he was in the hospital for an enlarged prostate.)

The royal family and the staff have a way and system that aims to protect them and their information. There is really little information released. The public will be notified when there is a change in health or other important matters.
