This new movie will tug on your heart stings and make you love a robot
There needs to be a little background on what the movie is about before I share my thoughts and emotions on it. Basically, a robot who’s supposed to help humans in their daily life, gets delivered to a deserted island. The robot, who’s named Roz, has to adapt to living a life not dedicated to humans. In new surroundings he instead creates a bond with the resident forest animals.
Roz becomes a mother figure to an orphaned gosling and her adaptation to the wild is put to the test to raise the little fellow in a way to help him succeed.
Just about the movie itself before any spoilers, the casting was an amazing selection with the main actors being Lupita Nyong’o, Kit Connor and Pedro Pascal. With Mark Hamill and Bill Nighy as side actors. While the characters were amazing, so was the animation of the film. It looks, obviously, like an animated film but it looks almost like a sketch.
The soundtrack was so perfect and that only amplified the hearttugging aspect of the film. The soundtrack was directed by Kris Bowers and many songs were sung by Maren Morris. Two of which were “Kiss The Sky” and “Even When I’m Not”
Heads up, there might be spoilers ahead. So proceed with caution.
I preface this by saying that I did really love the movie, it has a lot of really sweet and touching moments. Now what I didn’t love was how I sat in the movie theater for an hour losing it, just absolutely sobbing. I often cry in movies, mostly a tear here and there but this was full on ugly cries and the theater seat aggressivly shaking.
At the beginning she was isolated, alone and feared. The forest animals were fearful and judgemental of the new robot making home in their forest, they were scared of what they did not understand, but eventually with lots of understanding they became friends.
The whole movie was just hitting home. As Roz raises the little gosling and the fact that she wants to protect him but she realizes that letting him go and grow up on his own, hits hard for me with moving to a different state and having to grow up away from my family. The gosling and Roz had their disagreements but understanding that they have a strong bond and love for one another, and all the animals in the forest.
The whole movie there were themes of new understandings, being afraid of the unknown and coming together with unlikely groups to make a change. While I did cry virtually the whole time and the movie did have sad moments, it was also filled with kindness and love and showed what true love and kindness is.
Roz was about to go back to the land of helping people, but at that moment the animals all riled together to get her to stay in the forest. I think that is also something that also hits home, we don’t realize what we have, love and cherish until the moment we risk losing it.
Recent movies have felt almost repetitive or just being created to get views and money. It feels like recent films are just making live actions and really are missing the heart tugging values. Not many movies have made me cry recently and I almost cry during every movie.
I don’t know if I cried because I was having a hard week and this just hit home or if it was just a really heartfelt movie that caused a tear jerking reaction. I went with a few friends and most of us cried, the other few almost did. When I first heard about the movie, I heard that it was so good and it will make you cry. I didn’t believe it at first but then, surprise, I sobbed.
I really do recommend this movie, it was wholesome, sweet, emotionally powerful and really family friendly. It’s a good film with great music and casting. Go see it with your friends or family.
