With Taylor Swift attending the Kansas City Chiefs Game amidst dating rumors, the two worlds of football and “Swifties” are colliding.

Last Sunday the musical sensation Taylor Swift was seen at the Kansas City Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears. While this may seem like just another celebrity sighting, she was seen in a suite with  Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s mom. The rumors of Kelce and Swift might be terrible and cruel, but honey most of them are true.

Following her performance at Arrowhead Stadium for the Eras Tour, Kelce said in an interview that he actually made her a friendship bracelet when he attended the concert.

“But I wanted to give Taylor Swift one with my number on it…you know which one,” Kelce said.

From there, rumors started to spread. With Swift showing up at the game, that’s all the confirmation fans needed.  Social media was filled with more Taylor and Travis postings than the actual game itself. Those watching the game could see the camera always panning to Taylor in the suite.

Even the sports commentators made Taylor Swift references, such as “Kelce injured in week one, here to shake it off in week two.” Even when Kelce scored a touchdown, the announcers responded“Kelce finds a blank space for the score!”

Fans at the game were seen holding signs stating “Is Taylor Here?” Fans recorded reactions of her laughing with his mom and even cheering, jumping up and down when Kelce scored a touchdown.

After the game, the two were seen leaving the game together in his car. Rumors also stated that Kelce paid for everyone’s meals at a local restaurant, so the public could leave and Swift and his family could enjoy.

Connections about them were being posted everywhere. Kelce’s birthday is Oct. 5, 1989. This is the same year Swift was born and the name of her album. (Taylor’s version comes out October 27!) He also shares a birthday with her late grandmother, Marjorie, who was her inspiration and even had a song dedicated to her. It’s almost like an invisible string tied them together.

What if I told you her fans were a mastermind? They even connected his outfit to her. The blue and white outfit he was seen wearing leaving the stadium is called the 1989 bedroom painting set. Whether it’s a coincidence or if Kelce, also like Swift, loves playing with easter eggs, it seems like the two are a perfect match.

Companies such as the NFL, ESPN and the History Channel knew all too well that this was perfect for their media. As seen on their TikTok, the NFL updated their bio to “9/24/23  Taylor was here” and their X (formerly Twitter) to “NFL Taylor’s Version.” ESPN posted posting TikToks about them while the History Channel also jumped on the bandwagon.

Marketing has also gone up for Kelce and the Chiefs. According to a representative of Fanatics, the sportswear and merchandise company, “He “saw a nearly 400% spike in sales throughout the Fanatics network of sites, including NFLShop.com.” Even the ticketing website, StubHub, has seen an increase in sales and searches for a Chiefs game.

Overall, Kelce and Swift are not just in our wildest dreams.  It seems like they are taking the world by storm. Whether you’re just a “Swiftie” or a football fan, it looks like the two fan bases are going to have to learn to see these worlds colliding.
