Active gunshot activity in the area surrounding APU

Earlier today, there was gunshot activity near Azusa Pacific’s Azusa campus. A large police presence is still on the scene and investigating. Campus Safety and Azusa P.D. advise all students in the nearby area to stay indoors and remain away from windows.

Update: 3:00 p.m.

The suspect has been taken into custody by Azusa P.D. and the shelter-in-place orders have been lifted.

Update: 4:00 p.m.

At 11 a.m. this morning, police responded to a shooting near the corner of Citrus and Alosta avenues. Upon arrival, the police could not find the suspect, however, he was later found on Foothill Boulevard firing gunshots into the air.

The shooter was a 34-year-old male and is suspected of shooting at a facilities employee who was driving near campus in an APU vehicle.
