We have said goodbye to 2019 and hello to 2020. We are looking at a decade filled with new music, movies and social platforms. How will the entertainment industry transform during this new season?

Vine was a huge hit in 2013, giving its audience the ability to create videos with their own personality. It was another source of entertainment that blew up quickly over the years. Unfortunately, Vine started to crumble when it was renamed “Vine Camera” in 2017. This gave users the capability to make videos, but they could only be published on Twitter or uploaded to your camera roll.

While Vine was sorting out their issue, another media platform emerged. In 2014, Musical.ly was created, allowing users to film and post short lip-sync videos. Creators on Vine were able to move over to Musical.ly and create content for their followers. Around 2017, Musical.ly’s popularity declined and soon it joined Vine in the grave. Thankfully, another media platform was on the rise.

Creators were introduced to TikTok, the hit sensation that has taken over social media. If you don’t know what TikTok is, go into your App Store and download the app right now. You’ll want to remake the renegade dance and see your favorite celebrities or YouTubers make funny content on the app right away!

TikTok is what we needed since Vine is no longer in existence. TikTok allows users to create basically anything, from lip-sync performances to comedy skits to talent videos.

TikTok was introduced in 2016 but wasn’t as popular then as it is today. It seems as if everyone is using the app, including children, parents, grandparents and celebrities. The app has proven to be a hit sensation but the question is, will TikTok continue on in 2020? What does the future of TikTok look like?

We have lost both Vine and Musical.ly over the last couple of years. Entertainers who were previously on Vine and Musical.ly have since transferred over to TikTok. Creating content where you have the ability to dance, sing and make jokes is what we need, but will TikTok have to compete with other entertainment apps later in the year?

What makes the app unique is that it lets anyone broadcast their personality by creating content. Even YouTubers and celebrities use TikTok to post videos you wouldn’t normally see on their social media accounts or on their channel.

If this app continues into 2020 and years after, how will it keep up with its audience? Will they introduce another way to make videos or add features that will continue to attract more viewers?

I don’t want TikTok to get shut down; this app has been tremendously entertaining to a lot of people. I love opening the app and watching videos nonstop. Remaking the videos is the best part. It helps create a conversation with others and create a bond with those you are making videos with.

It’s crazy to think that TikTok has the potential to be a hit in years to come. And we don’t want to see it leave like Vine and Musical.ly. It would be heartbreaking to say goodbye to another platform — TikTok needs to continue on in 2020.
