The Azusa and Glendora Police Departments search the area surrounding APU for suspected felon.

On Tuesday, Jan. 8, the Azusa Police Department and the Glendora Police Department conducted an area search for a felon suspect(s) around Foothill Blvd. and Citrus Ave.

APU’s Department of Campus Safety sent out alerts to the community via emails, texts and phone calls around 11 p.m.

“This advisement is to suggest everyone to stay out of the area. Once the area is clear, we will update this advisement,” Campus Safety said in the alert.

UPDATE: Jan. 9, Wednesday, 12:10 a.m.

At 12:04 a.m. on Wednesday, Campus Safety notified the community that the police activity in the surrounding area was all clear.

UPDATE: Jan 9, Wednesday 12:45 a.m.

The suspect(s) are believed to be involved in a shooting that occurred on Rockvale Ave. around 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday, as reported by CBSLA. Three victims were found on Rockvale Ave. and Sixth St., four blocks away from APU’s campus.

The victims were taken to the hospital, where two died and the third victim’s condition is unknown. A police investigation is ongoing.
