The Metro Goldline’s new APU/Citrus college station has given students the opportunity to travel without a car for low prices and no traffic. For those without a vehicle, the  Goldline provides an opportunity for cheap travel. However, for someone who is unfamiliar with public transportation, it can seem intimidating.
Here are some things to know if you’re considering using the Goldline.

1. The APU/Citrus station is located across from Citrus College and it includes a parking structure in case you need to leave your car free of charge. There are 200 spots available at this location.

2.Once you arrive at the station, you will see this machine where to purchase a “TAP card.” Load the card with money to easily access the Goldline or buy a one-way ticket for $1.75. This card can also be reloaded at these machines, online or by phone.

3. After purchasing your “TAP card,” this is where you tap. When you place your card on the blue circle, you will hear a beep and see the words “go,” signaling that your fare’s been processed for the Metro.IMG_81824. There is a schedule you can look up online at www.metro.net that tells you what time each Metro will arrive and depart, but they usually run every 10 minutes. This website also helps you plan your routes so that you can get where you need to go.

5. It’s always important to have your “TAP card” with you and that you have tapped it at the entrance because sometimes officers will check to make sure it’s valid.

6. When the Metro arrives, double-check to make sure it is headed in the direction you want to go and then step on board!IMG_8179

7. Enjoy your trip! And make sure to pay attention to what stop you want to get off at. They will announce the stops over the intercom, so make sure you’re listening!
