During a Preview Weekend, a visiting parent was offended by a 6-foot art piece located in Duke Hallway and insisted that the painting be removed. The artist, sophomore interdisciplinary art major Dominique Nevarez, depicted a creature for a figure drawing class assignment and was inspired by tentacles, a rib cage and a ram’s head. After 500 students reacted on Facebook advocating the artist’s creative freedom, the artwork has been put back on display.
