Sunday, Feb. 8, musical artists of different genres come together for the 57th annual Grammy Awards. Hailed as music’s biggest night, the show celebrates the past year’s music with performances and, of course, honoring artists for their work.

English pop singer Sam Smith leads this year’s nominee list with a total of six, including Best Pop Solo Performance for the song “Stay With Me” and Best Pop Album for “In the Lonely Hour.” He is one of 10 artists who have been nominated in all four general categories (Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year and Best New Artist), putting him on the list alongside Amy Winehouse and Mariah Carey.

Australian rapper Iggy Azalea follows close behind Smith with four nominations, including one for Best Rap Album with her debut, “The New Classic.” Azalea and Smith go head-to-head for Record of the Year and Best New Artist.

Perhaps the one thing that many news outlets such as the New York Daily News and billboard.com agree on is that Smith is the expected winner for Best New Artist. This means he would beat out Azalea, as well as sister pop rock group HAIM, English rock band Bastille and country singer Brandy Clark.

Surprisingly, Smith isn’t the favorite to win the other three general categories where he had nominations. In an article written at techtimes.com, the free streaming service Spotify made its Grammy predictions based on what was played the most on the service. Sia’s hit song, “Chandelier,” topped the list for Most Streamed Song of the Year and Most Streamed Record of the Year. The difference between the two is that Song of the Year honors the actual songwriter, while Record of the Year is awarded to the whole team behind the song.

Billboard.com seems to agree with Spotify’s predictions, giving “Chandelier” a 39 percent chance of winning Song of the Year and a 34 percent chance of winning Record of the Year.

As for the Album of the Year, predictions are all over the place. Spotify predicts that Ed Sheeran’s “X” will take the award based on the fact it was the most streamed out of all the nominees, while Billboard gives Beyoncé’s self-titled album the greatest chance.

But when it comes to the Album of the Year, anything could happen, as viewers saw back in 2011 when indie rock band Arcade Fire beat out artists like Katy Perry and Lady Gaga to win the award. This year’s potential upset could come from alternative rock artist Beck for his album “Morning Phase.”

Other notable artists nominated include Taylor Swift with “Shake It Off” and Meghan Trainor for “All About the Bass,” both nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

Tune in Sunday to CBS at 5 p.m. to see who will take home those golden gramophones!
