When I first moved down to Southern California from Northern California, I everything seemed new and fresh. There were new adventures to be had and new places to go. Within the first month I was able to go to a small eatery called “Carneys.” They are famous for their hamburgers and hot dogs that are both inexpensive and delicious. This was the go to place when I had friends visit from out of town and they are looking for a quick and inexpensive appetite filler.

However, quite recently I experienced my first time at Pink’s Hot Dogs right down the street from Sunset Blvd. It was 10:30 at night and we had just finished up with a night out on the town at The Grove and we were feeling adventurous so we decided to keep the adventure going and make our way over to Pink’s. After figuring out the night parking system of Los Angles and that we would not get towed or ticketed for where we were parked, we began our walk to the already crowded and packed outdoor eatery.

The evening was perfect and the “blood moon” was getting ready to show off. The line was wrapped around the rope that was along the sidewalk and the menu of different types of hot dogs seemed endless. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing silly names from films and actors and actresses who had been there previously. Photos were framed along the top of the walls with familiar faces of Jimmy Kimmel, Ryan Seacrest and Dolly Parton.

The names of various hot dogs were entertaining as you walked through the line up towards where you order. There are names such as: “Jaws,” “Martha Stewart Dog (It’s a Good Thing!),” “Lord of the Rings” and “The Mulholland Dog,” just to name a few.

While some of them sound intense, they probably are. If you have the appetite go for it. I chose the basic; chili cheese dog and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I can tell that this place is one of the best destinations and can say this is the best hot dog place I have been to since I moved down here.

If you are up for an adventure or are in Hollywood venturing around make sure to stop by “Pink’s Hot Dogs” you won’t be disappointed and you will be able to say you ate “Jaws”…or whatever else you choose.

Pink’s is open from 9am until 2am Sunday – Thursday and 9:30am until 3:00am Friday and Saturdays. It is located down the street from Sunset Blvd at 709 N. La Brea Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90039. They also have other locations in Southern California, Ohio, Las Vegas and Connecticut.
