Each Wednesday at noon, senior business management major Jennifer Lee sits out at the intersection of Great Command and Great Commission with other APU students to pray on behalf of people around the world. Friday was the first time Lee and her team partnered with International Chapel to pray over various mission teams.

Lee first thought of integrating prayer for other countries into International Chapel a few weeks ago. She connected with International Campus Pastor Vijay Jacob, who shared the same vision. The two then organized a plan to make it happen.

“I feel like this is going to be a really great opportunity to bring awareness to the campus about our action teams and their prayer needs,” Lee said.

Associate Vice President for Internationalization Matt Browning first thought of “Pray for the Nations” last semester and started it with the help of Lee, who is a former student of his.

Senior youth ministry major and regular attendee Alysia Middleton said she admires the work Lee puts into the prayer time each week.

“The friends that God has placed in my life are really passionate about going out to places where there aren’t many Christians already,” Middleton said in explaining her purpose for going.

According to Lee, roughly 4-8 students attend “Pray for the Nations” each week. Lee said she has seen more than 45 different faces over the course of the fall semester and hopes to see more students, faculty and staff come out to pray.

“Every week God brings out different people,” Lee said.

Next week “Pray for the Nations” will meet once again at noon and also lead a prayer at International Chapel on Friday for action teams that will serve over spring break.
