Shane Dawson is changing the beauty world with his new youtube series

It finally dropped — the pallet we’ve all been waiting for. We’ve seen the step by step process of its creation, and now she has been born, and she is breathtaking.

All 1 million of the pallets have already sold out, and if you haven’t purchased the pallet yet, you won’t be able to for a while.

But let’s go back to where the whole thing started.

On Aug. 1, 2018, Shane Dawson debuted a five part youtube documentary series, “The Secret World of Jeffree Star.” This series alone pulled in over 150 million views, and kick started Dawson’s beauty career.

At the end of the series, Dawson stated how cool it would be to film the process of creating and selling a product, and Star immediately got excited. From this, the pair started a new voyage into a realm that has never been done before, exposing the beauty industry for all the world to see.

Medium calls the new documentary series “A partnership that will revolutionize how to sell products.” Dawson’s series is so groundbreaking because no beauty company has ever dared to tell how much they are making. Medium also says, “They don’t hide numbers, they don’t redact information.”

This is why millions of viewers have been intently watching the series, Dawson’s blatant honesty is shocking, and we can’t stand to look away. He doesn’t edit out the tears, instead he does interviews in the bathroom, films the robbery reactions, and discusses every downfall.

Throughout the series, which started on Sept. 24, Star has exposed companies such as Two Faced, and showed contract deals with Morphe, who he partners with. His videos explain how some companies use cheap resources, and will charge 20 times more than the actual cost of their products.

Star also sheds light on how the product testing process is done, and how particular he is when creating a product. He also showed how ripped off influencers like Dawson have been taken advantage of by big brands, and merchandise companies. Star mentions a beauty guru, Nikki Tutorials who had been ripped off by Two Faced in the past, and the percentage she got from the collaboration.

Star also creates a logo for Dawson, as well as pig merch that Dawson will be getting a fair percentage of. This means a lot to Dawson because in the past he was taken advantage of by merch companies, and Hot Topic.

Although Dawson isn’t a beauty guru, throughout the series we see him buying and learning how to create makeup looks, which is inspiring to amateur artists. He also tries working out, and setting a goal to not say anything negative about himself, which is very relatable, and draws in even more viewers.

This series has six episodes so far, with more than 110 million views all together. And although Dawson feared he wouldn’t sell the products he created with Star, he broke records, crashed Star’s website and is completely sold out of everything.

I was surprised when watching the series that the product came out so cool, and was even more surprised when Dawson and Star’s epicly unique products sold out of everything immediately.

My roommate even tried to buy the pallet, but the site crashed and she wasn’t able to. Since then, there has been a relaunch announcement and she has hope once again.

So what does this mean? Will brands we used to trust have to gain out trust back be exposing their secrets? Will companies start to treat influencers with respect, and have to give them better deals on collaborations?

It’s too soon to tell. All we know is that something is going to change, and for the consumer it is going to change for good.

I am staying tuned into the series, compelled by the number and secrets of the beauty community. Will you?
