This coming summer Azusa Pacific’s Learning Management System (LMS) will make the change over from the current LMS, Sakai, to Canvas.
In order to promote this switch over to Canvas, the Office of Innovative Teaching and Technology (ITT) at APU will be hosting a pop up event March 14th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kresge Plaza on West campus.
“APU has begun the transition from Sakai to Canvas, a learning management system (LMS) that offers students and faculty new ways to manage, navigate, and access their courses. This popup event will provide students and faculty critical information about migration services, training resources, and other support services. There will be fun, games and prizes,” reads the ITT website.
The new LMS will provide students with a more interactive and engaging LMS experience with features such as a mobile app.
The promotional website for APU’s transition writes, “Faculty and students rated Canvas as superior on dimensions such as ease of use, simple and clean user-interface, integration with many tools, and robust support resources. These advantages should provide an enhanced teaching experience for faculty, and an enhanced learning experience for APU students.”
Canvas will begin to be implemented throughout certain areas of APU as soon as this summer with Sakai being pushed out and Canvas fully taking over by May of 2019.
