Traveling is something that has become a rite of passage at Azusa Pacific. Whether it’s somewhere in South Africa or even downtown L.A., traveling with a group of friends is something that APU views as important. Although, if you can’t devote an entire semester, you might consider taking a road trip for a momentary pause during the school year.

Only a mere three and a half hour drive up the coast of California is a small college town called San Luis Obispo (SLO). It is a city that brings the coastal views and the vast farmlands together, thus creating a road trip that is worth every minute of your time. Below is a photo story of places to go if you choose to road trip to SLO.

The first portion of your road trip is the drive. While driving for three and a half hours may not always seem like fun, sunsets make the drive worth it.

On your first morning in San Luis Obispo,  a coffee wake-up is always a must. Scout is a local spot where nearby college students love to stop in and grab a cup of coffee and a freshly baked pastry.

Once you’ve gotten your wake-up call, begin your exploration through the back hills of San Luis Obispo. Usually a vibrant green, these hills are full of surprises.

One of those surprises is typically farm life. Cows roam the hills as they please, but they might not always come up to you.

Head over to “See Canyon Fruit Ranch,” a popular and inviting stop to all passerby.

From fresh apple cider to sweet almond brittle, this fruit farm offers delicious snacks to take home and savor. Plus, if you’re not exactly sure what you want to take back home, taste tests are unlimited.

While “See Canyon Fruit Ranch” may be a spot to grab some delicious treats, it’s also Instagram worthy. With a haystack and a huge tree, this spot screams “trendy.”

The Montaña de Oro State Park will definitely blow your mind. With a breathtaking view of the coast, any viewer could fall in love with the San Luis Obispo.

While the semester comes to an end, you might consider adding San Luis Obispo to your next adventure. If coffee, spectacular views and trendy spots are your forte, SLO is your kind of city to explore.
