The phrase “finding freedom” has different meanings for everyone. There is an endless list of freedoms that people strive to obtain.

Whatever type of freedom you’re looking for, there are so many opportunities around that could push you even further on your journey.

As the American poet Robert Lee Frost said, “Freedom lies in being bold.”And, what better way to be bold than to do it without breaking a budget?

There are so many options to explore, experience and enjoy around Los Angeles County. Below is a list of 15 free things to do to get you started in your journey towards freedom.

  1. Bridge to Nowhere: Explore the outdoors and take a hike on this bridge in the Azusa Canyon. Originally built to serve as a link in a roadway between the San Gabriel Valley and Wrightwood, the bridge now serves as a historical landmark instead.
  2. Azusa Pacific University: Support our basketball team and head out to the first Pacwest home game against The Academy of Art on Nov. 30
  3. Griffith Observatory: Take a drive and learn about the stars above the “City of Angels.” It’s not only free but also has free events such as the public star party (one Saturday a month).
  4. Getty Center: This art museum is completely free and full of historical pieces. From paintings to sculptures, the Getty Museum will not only make you feel sophisticated, it will also give you an incredible view of the city.
  5. Eaton Canyon: This is another great trail. For a challenge, try reaching for “Inspiration Point” – it gives a great workout as well as a beautiful view of Pasadena.
  6. Echo Park: Explore one of the oldest neighborhoods in Los Angeles that has its own popular lake, extravagant food and home to the Dodger Stadium.
  7. Echo Park Community Parade: Join the Echo Park community in celebrating some early Christmas spirit with their annual Echo Park Community Parade on Dec. 9.
  8. Deukmejian Wilderness Park: Have a picnic in the park and explore the secluded woodlands Deukmejian has to offer.
  9. Runyon Canyon: Head to this famous trail located in the heart of Hollywood — you might even run into a few celebrities while you’re there. Justin Bieber, Natalie Portman and Channing Tatum are just a few that can always be spotted on this trail.
  10. Watts Towers: A funky art spectacle located in Los Angeles, this attraction has all kinds of abstract pieces that would make any Instagram picture a hit.
  11. Colorado Street Bridge: From the famous “La La Land” film, this Pasadena bridge will give you taste of what it feels like to be Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. And if you really want to get into character, learn some dance moves and sing aloud as you stroll across the bridge.
  12. Sand Dune Park: While there is really no such thing as winter in Southern California, the beach is always an option year-round. So instead of hitting the water with your boogie board, go hit some sand at the Sand Dune Park in Manhattan Beach.
  13. Angel Knoll Park: If you love the movie “500 Days of Summer” then you’ll love this spot all the more. Head to downtown Los Angeles and feel the romance on the bench that Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Levitt-Gordon made so famous on-screen.
  14. Greystone Mansion and Park: Known for being Beverly Hills’ most important cinema landmark, get a special look inside this mansion and park to see where classic films and television shows such as “Gilmore Girls,” “The Bodyguard” and “X-Men” all got their inspiration from.
  15. The Broad: A popular contemporary art museum in downtown L.A. Check out The Broad for crazy, fun art pieces. And, if you have more time on your hands, book a ticket for the exclusive Lightroom.

With options from every corner of L.A. there’s no reason not to find the “free” in the freedom.
