The dreaded week has arrived. It’s time for the last minute scrambling, all night study sessions and near-mental breakdowns. But, have no fear, here are 8 tips to help you survive finals week.

1. Drink coffee

Coffee seems to be the answer to a lot of problems. Use those extra dining points at the coffee shops on campus or take advantage of the new Starbucks drive-through at the corner of Citrus and Alosta.

2. Eat Chick-fil-A

Much like coffee, Chick-fil-A has also been known to solve a whole host of problems. Something about the atmosphere of our “south campus” Chick-fil-A puts the real world on pause while you enjoy a chicken sandwich, a cold drink and waffle fries.

3. Take study breaks

The brain actually works better when you take a study break. As long as this study break is only a temporary time period and not the whole day, you might actually have some more success on test day.

4. Call mom

Somehow, moms always know exactly what to say. She’ll remind you that you’re not actually dying and that everything’s going to be okay.

5. Come up with good excuses

Finding the right de-stressing excuse may help you remind yourself that your world is only semi-crumbling. My personal favorite excuse is, “GPA doesn’t matter in Heaven.” Use at your own discretion.

6. Scroll through Memes

Ah, memes. Scrolling through memes is what got me through last semester’s finals. Some of the most popular memes this year have been grumpy cat, Kermit the frog and my personal favorite, the man blinking his eyes. Take a look at these popular memes.

7. Play with an animal

If you know someone with a pet, text them immediately. I promise this will be soothing for you and calm your nerves. Anything along the lines of a dog or cat or bunny will do the trick. Take a look at the science behind it.

8. Eat Chocolate

I don’t even need to explain this one.

Push on; you’ll make it through. When finals week is over, you’ll have finished another semester of college and you’ll be three full summer months away from another scantron.
