Society is no longer satisfied with conventional food combinations of the past. Peanut butter and jelly is now paired with hamburgers, donuts are filled with ice cream and sushi is rolled into a burrito.

screen-shot-2016-10-09-at-7-42-18-pmBolder and more creative than ever, today’s foodies have captured these picture-worthy and whacky combinations through Instagram and food blogs. One “Insta-famous” food blogger, Michel Phiphak, has been a part of the food blogging scene for three years now.

His Instagram page (@foodwithmichel) is full of mouth-watering photos capturing scrumptious and often times peculiar meals, such as macaroni and cheese with bacon and Hot Cheetos, lobster pizza, spaghetti stuffed grilled cheese and jasmine milk tea ice cream.

“I’m willing to try it, even if it’s crazy,” Phiphak said. “That’s the point of the food industry—trying things that wouldn’t normally go well together. If somebody has it and it’s distinctive, then I’m willing to try it.”

Sushi burritos are one example of saying, “Out with the old and in with the new!” At The Low-Key Poke Joint,screen-shot-2016-10-09-at-7-43-29-pm customers have the option to get their sushi burritos covered in either wasabi peas or various Cheetos flavors.

“People are so intrigued with these strange combinations because when you break it down, it’s just a novelty,” Phiphak said. “But that’s the cool thing about it, people are willing to try new things. Something new will always come out, so it’s out with the old!”

For those who have chosen food as their career or those who simply just love to eat, foodies are recognizing the new and creative potential that food has to offer. Stepping away from the old way of things has introduced a new world of strangely wonderful food combinations that are unforgettable.
