Azusa Pacific men’s tennis player Jan Meyer earned recognition as the No. 1 singles player in NCAA Division II in the March 25 Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings.

The junior out of Heiligenhaus, Germany has led the Cougars to the No. 2 spot in the West Region — second only to PacWest foe Hawai’i Pacific, who also currently ranks No. 1 in the nation.

Meyer’s continued success will be critical in the Cougars’ maintenance of that second spot, as only two teams from the West Region will receive NCAA tournament berths. Unfortunately, there is no individual championship in Division II — so the rest of the Azusa Pacific squad’s continued success is equally as critical in giving Meyer an opportunity to compete at the national level.
