I was recently asked to read Sheila Weller’s The News Sorority for a Global Journalism class. The book details the personal and professional journeys to news media fame of Diane Sawyer, Christiane Amanpour and Katie Couric.
For anyone, but especially journalism students and extra-especially women, this book is a motivational account of three women who fought against countless odds to reach success.
This book was assigned to me along with a four-page book report and, in turn, my initial excitement over reading it was limited. But after reading through simply the introduction, I was hooked.
Take some time to read through this book if you need some encouragement as a women in the field of news media, or if you have ever doubted any of these incredible women – their stories are truly inspiring.
