Azusa Pacific volleyball sealed a four-set win (25-16, 19-25, 25-17, 25-17) over non-conference competitor La Sierra in APU’s first home match since Sept. 20.

The Cougars bounced back from an early four-point deficit (4-8) to take a nine-point win in the first set. La Sierra led APU the duration of the second set before the team again recovered to close out the Eagles in the following two sets.

Azusa Pacific tabbed double-digit kills in each set, led by junior outside hitter Katy Crouse with 10 on the match. Sophomore middle blockers Ashley Midland and Crystal Dedes registered eight kills apiece while junior setter Jaden Louie recorded 29 assists.

The Eagles were led by Lina Semaia, who posted an 18 kill, seven dig performance.

La Sierra, members of the Cougars’ former NAIA conference, drop to 3-12 with the loss, while APU improves to 8-7.

Azusa Pacific will host Notre Dame de Namur in a PacWest match on Oct. 10.
