Junior forward Keyran Kelly scored his first goal of the season in a 1-0 victory over Hawai`i Hilo on Monday night.

Sophomore midfielder Luke Ackermann had the assist in the Cougars’ 73rd minute goal. Despite the the Vulcans’ 6-5 shot advantage, the team could not find an equalizer.

“It was a challenge for us trying to score tonight. Hilo is a solid defensive team. They make it really difficult to find any scoring opportunities and they limited the things we were able to do against them,” head coach Dave Blomquist said. “The guys did well at continuing to search for that opportunity – and they found it.”

The men’s team will continue its trip in the third of four games at Chaminade on Thursday.
