Azusa Pacific’s men’s soccer lost 1-0 Thursday night at Cal Poly Pomona.

The only goal of the game was scored in the second half by Pomona’s Chris Gonzalez Diaz with 45:40 left. It came off a long pass by Mathew Perez.

APU took 11 shots in the game, but was unable to come through with any scoring. Pomona took eight shots, and the single goal was enough to win the game.

The Cougars’ Tyler Jaramarillo had one save while the Broncos’ Fernando Quevedo had four.

With the loss, APU falls to 2-1 for the season while Pomona earned its third win of the year.

The Cougars travel to UC San Diego for their next matchup Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. They will then have a one-week break before playing Point Loma at home Sept. 27 at 5:30 p.m.
