Living in Southern California is one of the greatest places to live in the entire world, but I am constantly hearing APU students say there is nothing to do around here. That statement could not be any farther from the truth. There are countless options of things one could do to have a great time. You don’t need to look very far to find something either.

One of my go-to spots when I’m looking for something to do close by is heading to the Westfield Santa Anita mall by Arcadia. Everyone knows the mall is a hangout for people of all ages but this mall is different than most. If you want an inexpensive outing, just head to the mall and do some people watching (a great yet underrated activity) or even just do some window shopping. That right there could kill a few hours for no money at all while enjoying the unique scenery a mall will provide. You honestly never know what kind of crazy stuff you’ll witness at the mall.

If you’re looking for something a little more interesting and have some extra cash to spend the Santa Anita Mall has plenty for you.  A popular spot for many people to spend hours reminiscing of their childhood is Dave and Busters. Dave and Busters is a great place to spend all day. You get to watch a few ball games, have some good food, maybe a few drinks (soda of course) and then the real fun of playing the hundreds of arcade games they have to offer. Also, collect as many tickets as you can to win that giant stuffed animal, or whatever prize catches your eye.

If arcade games aren’t your style, head right next door to the AMC theatres and catch the latest movie.

And if you’re stuck babysitting for the day, that’s fine too, take the youngsters to Jump n’ Jammin. That place is a kid’s paradise with jungle gyms and rock climbing walls and basically anything that a kid can go crazy on. So don’t worry, this mall has something for everyone to enjoy.

Finally if all you’re looking for is a great meal, look no further. Santa Anita Mall has some of the best food choices around. The top spots are Benihana, The Cheesecake Factory, Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill, Red Robin, and much, much more inside the food court.

So, head up the 210 a few miles and check out the Santa Anita Mall. You won’t be disappointed.
