Humans versus Zombies descends on APU once again.

This week many APU students are fighting for their lives in the annual on campus game, Humans versus Zombies.

The game is essentially a giant game of tag, with some students playing “zombies” and chasing the “human” players.

A large part of the game is the missions and vaccinations. “Humans” must check in at least one in order to maintain their player status. This forces students to venture out of the safe zones and face the zombie horde.

This year, the game has become even more challenging with the implementation of limited vaccines, more complex missions, and shorter windows of time for humans to complete various tasks.

It is a truly immersive experience and it often puts students into precarious situations in which they must rely on other players to help them.

It is not uncommon for students who have never met to group up and help each other travel safely. It makes students get out of their comfort zone and break out of their daily routine. After all, it is difficult to have an average day when you are taking time between classes to fight off zombies in order to stay human.

I signed up for my second year after the intensity and comradery of last year. I have so many stories from last year’s game and it was truly an unforgettable week. I expect even more adventure this year.

So far, the humans are winning, but the zombies are quickly gaining ground. The humans need to band together in order to ward off the impending conflict if they wish to survive the zombie apocalypse.
