“I love Taco King,” Burgess said. “It’s open 24/7, they have pancakes—”

“Delicious pancakes with the perfect amount of flavor and thickness and taste,” Ligh interrupted.

“—and their quesadillas are the best in town. Their meat to cheese ratio is perfect. There’s the perfect crispness of the tortilla leaving just the right amount of soft interior.” Kelsey added, “Their Coffee Horchata shakes are life-changing.”

Burgess and Ligh go to Taco King multiple times a week. They like the people who work there, too. “The people are super friendly, and if you go in often enough, they’ll recognize you and joke with you,” said Burgess.

The television in the room often plays telenovelas and Mexican fútbol games, and there is another king-related store across the parking lot: the Super King Market with a carneciera, or meat market. Many students who have eaten at Taco King agree that it has great food—there’s even a claw machine near the entrance if customers need some entertainment other than soccer. Even better, with the APU discount, a quesadilla (which comes with rice, beans, chips, and guacamole) is less expensive than Mexicali.

“Cheaper and better,” said Ligh.
