However, SGA announced Monday, Feb. 24 that Treymayne deferred his application for another executive position as the Director of Communications and Alpha Joy Ferrer was announced as the new Vice President elect.

According to current Director of Communications Christy Johnston, Treymayne will oversee social media, events and brainstorm innovative ways to advertise to the student body what SGA does through the use of technology.

“Looking at what next year holds and what I believe the direction the school should go in, it involves Brian and Alpha Joy as the leaders,” Treymayne said. “They both are visionaries and are passionate about what SGA can be to the student body this upcoming year.”

Ferrer originally ran against Jessup in the presidential election, while Treymayne had run uncontested for the vice presidential position.

According to the SGA Facebook page, Jessup collected 637 votes and Ferrer received the remaining 567 votes in the presidential race.

“I was nervous, but I believe that being a little nervous is natural and healthy,” Jessup said. “The race was so close and I was impressed with how much of the student body was engaged.”

Ferrer was offered the vice presidential position upon Treymayne’s deferment.

“I recognized my deep passion for SGA and the student body, beyond the position I actually ran for,” Ferrer said. “Therefore I humbly accepted the honor and privilege to serve alongside Brian.”

Jessup looks forward to partnering with Ferrer in the upcoming academic year.

“I am so excited that Riley wants to pursue another position in SGA for next year,” Jessup said. “It is so great to have Alpha Joy as SGA Vice President. I know she will do such an incredible job and I am so grateful to be working with her this upcoming year.”

Jessup and Ferrer both said they hope to improve the student body’s relationship with SGA.

“I believe so much in our potential to have a significant and lasting impact for the Kingdom on this campus, in this Azusa/LA community, and globally, that I can’t wait to help us achieve that in any way I can,” Jessup said.
