After their first team meet in Malibu last Saturday, the Azusa Pacific women’s swimming and diving team won their first duel of the season against Biola 120-115 Saturday morning. The Cougars only won four of the 25 total events, but their well-balanced team performanceled them to victory.

In 11 of the 25 events, the Cougars represented two of the top three finishers. Sophomore Erica Knudsen finished in first in the 50- (25.45) and 100-yard (54.76) freestyles. This was the only event in which the Cougars took the top three spots.

The only other APU swimmer to land first place by herself was Cardenas, finishing atop the 200-yard freestyle at 2:01.39. Knudsen and Cardenas joined Turner and senior Tink Gibb for the final Cougar first-place finish of the duel in the 200-yard freestyle relay, in which the four swimmers participated as APU’s ‘A’ team and finished at 1:42.49.
