In light of COVID-19, commencement ceremonies will now be held in a live streamed format

In an email sent on Tuesday at 2 p.m., President Ferguson announced commencement ceremonies for May 2020 and December 2020 graduates will not be held in-person due to COVID-19 restrictions.

“It was our best intention to hold Commencement ceremonies for our May 2020 and December 2020 graduates in person this December,” said Dr. Ferguson in his announcement. “However … it seems most likely that large scale events will still not be allowed.”

There will be four respective ceremonies to honor the hard work of graduates. On Saturday, Dec. 12, there will be two ceremonies. The 10 a.m. ceremony will honor the undergraduate and professional class of May 2020 and the 1 p.m. ceremony will honor the graduate class of May 2020.

On Dec. 19, an undergraduate and professional ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. for December 2020 graduates. A ceremony for the graduate class of December 2020 will be held at 1 p.m. the same day.

Students should expect an email titled, “Participation in Virtual Commencement 2020” which will include a link to an attached photo and additional information. Students will need to respond to the email by Oct. 12 for May 2020 graduates and Oct. 26 for December 2020 graduates in order to be included in the live streamed commencement ceremony.

If a student is unable to attend the live streamed event, the recording will be available on the commencement website for later viewing.
