A worship playlist to help pass the time while you are practicing social distancing

Music is medicine, and in this time of uncertainty, it can be a great tool to process what’s going on in our world. Here are some worship tunes to listen to in this time of isolation whether you need to dance, cry, or just need a reminder of hope amidst the chaos.

For when you feel anxious:

“Anchor” By Beautiful Eulogy ft. Josh Garrels

With a unique blend of rap and folk music, this collaboration does an excellent job of reminding us that despite what the world is saying, God is in control. With a chorus proclaiming, “Anchor of my soul you sustain / When I’m in the storm / You remain good to me” it is a great reminder of God’s faithfulness in our trials.

“Believe” By Social Club Misfits

The duo of Marty and Fern dropped a gem in their latest project “MOOD//DOOM”. In this track, they assure us that it’s normal to feel overwhelmed with the opening lyrics: “Do you still believe in what you cannot see / Yeah I know God is watching me / But it’s kinda hard to see.”

“Psalm 144” By Sharp Dialect

The collective consisting of Azusa Pacific alumni Isaiah Vargas and David Vasquez created a powerful song based off of the passage in Psalm 144. “With chorus declaring Blessed be the Lord my rock / He is my shield and steadfast love,” this song provides a powerful picture of God’s love for us.

“…Lost” By Andy Mineo

In this track, Andy Mineo does an excellent job of articulating the relationship between faith and anxiety. With the chorus repeating, “When I get above those clouds / yeah I know that the sun’s out / I’ma be alright,” he paints the picture that God is bigger than the storms in our lives.

For when you feel lonely:

This song is written from the perspective of God, and provides us with a beautiful image of the love He has for His creation. “From the womb I knew you by name / On your darkest days I don’t change,” remind the listener that no matter how distant they feel from the world that God remains close.

“Lately” By Parris Chariz ft Daesy

Rapper Parris Chariz gives another great take on how Christians process anxiety in their lives. With the chorus rapping, “Lately I’ve been alone / stuck at home / going through my phone / Lately I’ve been feeling like a wreck / missing on my ex / I been thanking God for the strength not to send a text”, it creates a message that a lot of people resonate with.

For when you want to jam:

This song by Montell Fish is an amazing song to jump around and praise Jesus to. It’s simple beat is catchy, and the vocals and rap that accompany it combine for a great tune that is meant to be played on full blast.
